Moving Systems’ Dynamite Tips for Packing
TNT
Moving Systems in Charlotte knows how to pack a house! How to Pack up your
house and save with TNT!
Death, taxes, and moving – the three
certainties of life. We’ve all experienced the dreaded horror of packing up an
apartment or house in preparation for the big move. We’ve all nearly drowned in
boxes, tape, packing paper, and clutter. We’ve all wished we could snap our
fingers like a genie and viola– a full house boxed up in seconds.
Whether it’s upsizing from a starter home
or moving your college freshman into the dorm, T-N-T
Moving Systems is
your Charlotte area moving company. If you choose to avoid the mind-numbing,
back-breaking pleasure of boxing up your belongings, T-N-T Moving Systems will
gladly take over. However, if you decide to take on this adventure all by
yourself, T-N-T wants to give you a few helpful tips that won’t numb your mind
or break your back.
1.
It’s
a simple equation. Heavy items = small boxes. Lighter items = big boxes. If
you’re going to be daring and mix it up, please place your heavy items on the
bottom, topped off with the lighter items. And jam those items in – carefully –
to ensure minimal movement. Use packing paper, pillows, towels, maybe even that
Jake Delhomme jersey.
2.
Use
the right box for your
specific needs. Use wardrobe boxes to pack up your closet. Legal totes for important
paperwork and files. Extra thick dish pack boxes for dishes and china.
Mirror/picture boxes for – you guessed it – mirrors, pictures, and other
fragile, narrow items. Mattress boxes for mattresses.
3.
When
packing up breakables, do so over a carpet or a padded area. Wrap individual
dishes in packing paper. It wouldn’t hurt to bundle four or five and rewrap
with additional packing paper. Place paper between each bowl and stack a few in
a reasonable pile. Packing paper is your friend.
4.
If
your garage is a hoarder’s dream vacation, use the appliance boxes to pack and
store that DVD player or that food processor your Aunt Marge gave you as a
wedding present. Make sure, though, these boxes are spider and damp free.
5.
Do
your best not to mix and match items from different rooms. This will make the
unpacking process – another nightmare in itself – less stressful.
6.
Clearly
label each box’s destination on the top and on the sides with a sharpie. Use
packing tape – hence the name – rather than duct tape. And don’t be afraid to
use the packing tape. Tape the bottom and top securely. Also, an extra layer of
tape around the top and bottom of the box couldn’t hurt. Packing tape is your
amigo.
7.
Get
an early jump on the packing process. Start boxing up items and furniture you
simply do not use on a regular basis.
8.
Most
importantly, de-stress yourself. Jam some music in the background. A little
Alabama Shakes or U2 or some Etta James will place your mind in its Zen gear.
Remember, T-N-T Moving Systems is only a phone
call or website click away. If the Panthers can trust them not to fumble their
important equipment, you can too.
