T-N-T Moving Systems’ Dynamite Tips for Packing

TNT Moving Systems in Charlotte knows how to pack a house! How to Pack up your house and save with TNT!

Death, taxes, and moving – the three certainties of life. We’ve all experienced the dreaded horror of packing up an apartment or house in preparation for the big move. We’ve all nearly drowned in boxes, tape, packing paper, and clutter. We’ve all wished we could snap our fingers like a genie and viola– a full house boxed up in seconds.
Whether it’s upsizing from a starter home or moving your college freshman into the dorm, T-N-T Moving Systems is your Charlotte area moving company. If you choose to avoid the mind-numbing, back-breaking pleasure of boxing up your belongings, T-N-T Moving Systems will gladly take over. However, if you decide to take on this adventure all by yourself, T-N-T wants to give you a few helpful tips that won’t numb your mind or break your back.

1.      It’s a simple equation. Heavy items = small boxes. Lighter items = big boxes. If you’re going to be daring and mix it up, please place your heavy items on the bottom, topped off with the lighter items. And jam those items in – carefully – to ensure minimal movement. Use packing paper, pillows, towels, maybe even that Jake Delhomme jersey.

2.      Use the right box for your specific needs. Use wardrobe boxes to pack up your closet. Legal totes for important paperwork and files. Extra thick dish pack boxes for dishes and china. Mirror/picture boxes for – you guessed it – mirrors, pictures, and other fragile, narrow items. Mattress boxes for mattresses.

3.      When packing up breakables, do so over a carpet or a padded area. Wrap individual dishes in packing paper. It wouldn’t hurt to bundle four or five and rewrap with additional packing paper. Place paper between each bowl and stack a few in a reasonable pile. Packing paper is your friend.

4.      If your garage is a hoarder’s dream vacation, use the appliance boxes to pack and store that DVD player or that food processor your Aunt Marge gave you as a wedding present. Make sure, though, these boxes are spider and damp free.

5.      Do your best not to mix and match items from different rooms. This will make the unpacking process – another nightmare in itself – less stressful.

6.      Clearly label each box’s destination on the top and on the sides with a sharpie. Use packing tape – hence the name – rather than duct tape. And don’t be afraid to use the packing tape. Tape the bottom and top securely. Also, an extra layer of tape around the top and bottom of the box couldn’t hurt. Packing tape is your amigo.

7.      Get an early jump on the packing process. Start boxing up items and furniture you simply do not use on a regular basis.

8.      Most importantly, de-stress yourself. Jam some music in the background. A little Alabama Shakes or U2 or some Etta James will place your mind in its Zen gear.

Remember, T-N-T Moving Systems is only a phone call or website click away. If the Panthers can trust them not to fumble their important equipment, you can too.

Charlotte's Top Suburbs by Charlotte Movers TNT Moving Systems

Top Charlotte Suburbs

We at TNT Moving Systems can think of about a million reasons you should move to Charlotte, and a lot of these reasons are not contained within the city limits. That’s right, Charlotte’s suburbs are gaining more popularity than ever, and for good reason. Each has its own set of unique features that make it desirable and fun. Here are a few of our favorites.

1.      Fort Mill. About eighteen miles from Uptown, Fort Mill has become quite a popular area for families to move. Its low property tax, good schools, and affordable housing continue to attract retirees and newly formed families from all walks of life. And with neighborhoods such a Baxter Village it is not necessary to have to venture into Charlotte for a fun night out.

2.      Indian Trail. Looking for something a little more rural? Off the beaten path? This is your place. With beautiful countryside views and backyards that open to clear, blue skies, Indian Trail is quickly growing in popularity. About fifteen miles from Uptown, this is a place to settle down. Check out Sun Valley Commons for some great places to eat, drink, and enjoy the slow life.

3.      Huntersville. Great schools, nice and affordable homes, and only twenty minutes from Uptown—Huntersville has been one of Charlotte’s top suburbs for years. And it’s only getting better with time. With the great restaurants and retail of Birkdale Village, and the enticing boat life that Lake Norman provides, it’s no wonder people are scrambling to get here. Plus, with the promise of a LYNX transit system running from Charlotte on up to Huntersville, it might just become the most popular suburb yet.

4.      Mount Holly. This is for constantly active. For those always on the move, looking for that next great hiking spot or river to kayak through. Mount Holly is the home of The U.S. Whitewater Center and Crowders Mountain State Park. Two wonderful spots for outdoor fun. Best of all, Mount Holly works on multiple levels: there are trails and camping for the uber active and then some that are more family friendly.

Find the suburb that fits your personality best. Then call us at TNT Moving Systems to get you moved in and ready for your new life.

Summer Moves aren't Easy- Here are Our Packing Tips

TNT Moving Systems wants your summer move to go as smoothly as possible. That's why we can help you with every part of the move- even the packing.

This summer make sure you are fully prepared for a stress-free move. Packing during the hottest season of the year means you need to take extra precautions to be sure all of your belongings arrive safe and secure.

Here in the South it can get pretty hot. Really hot, actually. So hot, it’s tough to go outside. But for some reason summer is the most popular time to move. So if you fall into the category of summertime movers, here are a few things to think about before you begin:

First, the easy part. Sketch a floor plan of your new house and label each room. Then, once everything is packed you can label the boxes to match the room shown on the plan. This will make the job of the movers much easier.

Next, begin to pack. This is usually when the stress factor begins to rise. Stuff gets broken, pieces of equipment go missing. But if you pack smart, everything will work out fine. For belongings that have multiple pieces, tape or fasten them together. Also, try and keep everything grouped according to which rooms they will be going in.

You can never use too much bubble wrap. Make sure everything breakable is surrounded by soft, foamy materials. Don’t take chances on anything. Even though you have professional movers, the smallest movement inside the box can cause fragile pieces to crack or break. It’s also important to have as many objects as possible inside boxes. This will keep them out of direct sunlight and heat, which can cause fading, or even melting.

On the day of the move keep all doors to both houses shut as often as possible. Obviously they will be opening and closing a lot because of the heavy in and out traffic, but you want to keep the inside as cool as possible. Also, try not to have your boxes sit on the porch or sidewalk for too long. The less exposure to heat the better.

Lastly, hire a quality company to do your moving for you. A company known for excellence and professionalism. A company like TNT Moving Systems.
